The word worship means to give reverence and honor to God. When I think about our worship services they are so distracted from what they are meant for. I think about the past few worship services I have participated in, and I can remember every time I have looked out in the crowd. I have seen people sleeping, using their phones or just standing there for their image sake.
I now have thought why is this? I think there are three big reasons. One of the reasons so many people go to worship services is to see all their friends or to get the latest rumor. Another reason is for their image. We go to church so our friends think we are good people. The third reason we go to worship services so we can get into heaven. Our culture today thinks to get in heaven you have to do good works. (Even though that is not how you get into heaven but that is a whole another blog post.) Going to church is one of those works we think we need.
Those three reasons for going to church almost bring a tear to my eye. The people are right there. They are so close to being in a position to connect with God yet they are detracted. How can we refocus these people? How can we get them to realize that they can gain more than a friendship or image by going to worship services? How can we get them to see how much more there is?
The only way I can think we can get people to realize there is more to worship is to shout from the roof tops of our worship experiences. We have to tell them how much more there is to worship services than image and trying to gain good works.
Here I am to announce to the world that I have gained so much more from worship. When you surrender all in worship you get swept off your feet by the love and mercy of God. When you go to a worship service to bring reverence and honor to God you gain so much more. All things from this world are lifted off your shoulders. It is so hard to put into words how amazing it is.
I don’t know where your heart is or why you go to church. You may be one of the people I still look up too and say I want to worship like that. If you are I praise God that I am honored enough to have you reading my blog. You may be one of those people that is out in the crowd sleeping or there for your image. If that is you then only you and God know . If it is you, I challenge you to take a step and next time you are at a worship service don’t worry about your image or trying to gain good works. Give reverence and honor to God.
Feel free to let me know what you think of the knew theme.
All for God,

That was the thought going through my head during worship at youth. I sat with the worship team worshiping God. When I looked out the crowd was dead. Staring into the sky and day dreaming. Or some of them had their cell phones opened. They were holding them between their legs looking down with a glaze over their eyes. They thought no one could see them.
All those phones that were opened sparked a thought in my mind. Is this technology a blessing or a curse? Continued to worship. When I got home that thought was still on my mind. I think God sent the cell phone to be a blessing, to be used to make our lives easier. Yet sometimes we use them at times when we shouldn’t. That makes the phone a curse.
I look back a few years and cell phones where merely used to call your neighbor, maybe the bank down the street or the staff to cancel the staff meeting. Used to make your life easier, what I would consider a blessing from God.
Now the cell phone is in the hands of almost every teenager from the age of 13 and up. It is also in the hands of some kids from the age of 10 and up. Is it a blessing or a curse? I would love to ask my peers that question. I am almost sure that their conscience would be screaming that it is a curse or an idol in their lives. They wouldn’t listen though and would listen to their socialization craving and sinful body and say that it is a blessing.
Now while I stay on this topic I want to admit that my body too craves to socialize. I don’t have a phone but have I craved that phone? Yes, I have. I admit I have broken one of the ten commandments God sent to us because of this culture crazing body. I have not honored my parents. I now realize they have done the right thing even though it took me some time to realize it was the right thing. I have wanted to be able to socialize but couldn’t. I admit I have shown anger because of it. I have craved the blessing that I wanted to use as a curse.
God gave one man the brain to make a cell phone. A piece of technology that God wanted to be a blessing but our earthly and sinning bodies have turned into a curse. What God made to be good we have used to pull us away from God. We have used our phones during church services when we are supposed to connect to God, yet we text our friend.
A few things to close with 1. I admit my sin of not honoring my parents 2. I don’t think texting is a sin but when used at wrong times it can be a curse 3. Search your heart.

Hey Guys,
Sorry it has been forever. I have just been so busy and the blog kinda got the boot there. I am gonna try to get back into this. I also haven’t felt like I have had many ‘blog worthy’ things to post.
Now onto the main topic today. I just watched United 93. It is about the flight that was supposed to hit the White House on September 11. It was a weird movie to watch because from the very beginning of the movie you knew the ending.
It was overall a great movie. It had a good bit of action and it really made you think. During the middle I kind of wanted to leave and do something else but I didn’t. I am glad I finished it. At the end of the movie it left me inspired, energized but at the same time just about in tears.
How can this be tied in with Christianity? Martyrs are kind of like those who gave there lives in United 93. In United 93 they knew they where going to die but they did what they could to save other people while they where dieing. Martyrs knew they where going to die for there beliefs at one point yet they wouldn’t stop pushing to let people know of the Kingdom.
I hope this encourages you guys to keep doing what is right no matter what the final outcome is.
